The area formerly used as an industrial production site is to be converted for residential use.
The planned relocation of KALTENBACH | GIETART, a leading international supplier of steel processing and preservation systems, to a new location offers the opportunity to put the site, which was previously used for industrial purposes, to a new use.
The aim is to transform the approximately 1.2 hectare site into an attractive, inner-city residential quarter with around 100 residential units. This will not only enable the sustainable reuse of the site, but will also make an important contribution to the housing supply in Hengelo - through careful redensification within the existing city limits.
The new residential location is being developed on the basis of a holistic planning concept that systematically combines key urban qualities such as quality of life, social safety, green and open spaces and a sustainable infrastructure for mobility, parking and climate adaptation.
A change to the current spatial development plan is required in order to realize the planned conversion. In addition to the urban development concept, the project development also includes the coordination of all necessary planning and coordination processes. We are providing comprehensive support for the project on its way from an industrial site to a sustainable residential district. The development plan will be finalized by Q4/2025 or Q1/2026 so that the implementation of the residential quarter can begin in 2026.
